As the Lincoln Communities Action Team communications coordinator, Nevada Central Media had the opportunity to create a presentation on the group’s efforts serving Lincoln County, Nevada.
NVC Media Owner Ben Rowley went before the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners and presented the work LCAT has done over the last few months in promoting tourism throughout the area, as well as other community-building initiatives the group is involved in.
We approached the presentation with several objectives. First, we wanted to introduce LCAT and help county leaders understand the important roles the organization plays in this community. Next, we wanted to share the efforts the group has taken part in over the last few months. We also wanted to explain what we’ve learned about tourism in the county and what is working in that arena. Finally, we wanted to share goals moving forward and invite the county take part in this important work.
We feel the presentation was well-received and see it as a first step in building public awareness of LCAT and tourism and community efforts in this wonderful rural area.
Communication efforts such as this go a long way in encouraging community engagement. It is important for rural organizations to inform the public on what they are doing to help people. We find that often there are many individuals in rural areas who are working on important projects that will benefit the community, but the people they are serving are unaware. This can change by simply using the communication tools available to get the word out.
There is a lot of exciting work ahead in Nevada Central Media’s rural communication efforts!
